education part 2 contd...




Hi...

The more I think about life I always feel it is nothing short of a puzzle.
We are brought up in a certain type of culture and ethics which gradually turns into a closed compartment. We gradually adapt to living in that closed compartment  as we catch up with our age missing over so many beautiful aspects of life which all of us must have enjoyed during our childhood, the most important, to be able to laugh spontaneously. This happens because of the imaginary boundaries we create around ourselves and find it difficult to break even if we want to.
Children do not have any sort of  barriers and sky is the limit for  them.
So why not live a life which is king size but full of child like ingredients ..
Myntra CPSNow starting again from I where I left in my last blog, I remember vividly one incident when I was in class VI. There used to be a function on the day of annual result declaration every year before closing for winter holidays for 10 to 15 days. My class teacher asked me to recite a very famous poem in that function...

I was excited that here was a golden opportunity to perform before a large gathering which would include a few eminent personalities, teaching staff and of course the students. I told my parents about it and my mother took it upon herself to ensure that I did it nicely. She made me rehearse the poem with action many times over a period of one week before the D day, it must have been at least 50 times, and I was really charged up and raring to go. I kept on rehearsing it while I was on my way to school and was confident to perform well to make my parents proud.

The results were announced and I passed out with flying colours.
There was some time to go before the function began and I kept on rehearsing, on and on...

The function began but to tell you the truth I could not muster enough courage to go on the stage and perform before a 300 strong audience. It was nothing but the fear of unknown.  I was literally in tears even though my class teacher kept on encouraging me. But I just could not do it...

But I also promised to myself that it was definitely the last time that I would allow my shyness to come in my way and indeed it was. Since then I made it a point to look for occasions to speak initially in small informal groups, ask questions in the class room, participate in formal debates, never miss any group discussions etc which immensely helped me. This continued and it was a matter of time before I faced the audience again but this time I could perform with total ease. Subsequently, it just kept on happening and must have made my parents proud.
 I was even asked to be anchor on many occasions which I did with great ease. In fact I started enjoying the experience and looked for such opportunities more and more....
In my corporate life of close to 36 years, I have been invited by educational institutions to deliver talks on various subjects and share my knowledge and experience about the industry of which I used to be a part of.


In fact the world looks totally different from any stage as compared to when you are sitting in the audience and the audience is listening to you, which I kept on experiencing as time passed by and has to be experienced if one really wants to have a feel of it. To say the least it looks beautiful if you are able to establish connect with the audience. The two most powerful requirements are to speak from your heart and maintain eye to eye contact with the audience.




Let us be childlike by not allowing  the child inside us to die to achieve our dreams...

education ...part 2...



Welcome back to another blog of mine.....
So far I have talked about my childhood days, forefathers and also part of education period.
I will keep on shuttling back and forth on the same for some more time  with a hope that I am able to establish connect with all of you. And I will consider myself fortunate if my blogs motivate a few to aim at excellence in life.

You may recall that I was an intelligent student right from the beginning doing well at my academics.
I say this with all humility.

Here let me share one incident when I went to my first school for the very first time upon admission to class IV. I stood first at the annual examination but could not hear the result properly when it was announced over public address system for all the classes.

I was shy and possibly introvert too, during those days and did not even try to ask my class teacher about it later on. I came back from school and showed a blank face to my parents when they asked about my result. My mother then tried to ask me separately whether something was wrong but I kept on saying I did not understand what was announced by the school authorities.




Subsequently, my father must have called the school to know about it because my class teacher who used to live near by came to meet him in the evening and informed about my result. My father was naturally very happy and called me out to meet my class teacher but I hid in the wash room and wept profusely out of fear of unknown as if I had done something wrong at the school.

My father personally came inside, took me in his lap and carried me outside when I understood from my class teacher about my performance. And there were laughter all around  .....

There was another such instance which I would share in my next blog.

But possibly the seeds of change were sown in me during those days which are very much essential, in fact a prerequisite to survive in today's world and this is why I thought of sharing this incident with my learned readers who might have undergone such an experience themselves at some point, in some phase of their lives which I suppose we must share so that it could be of learning and help to few of us, our children, our dear ones...

Maternal forefathers contd....



Good morning

Life is nothing short of a puzzle and we keep on solving it day in and day out. The solutions are always available before us but we are unable to spot it on many occasions and latch upon something which may be unrealistic, unworkable,untenable and even unacceptable. In my opinion this is due to our attitude towards life. A positive person will always try to find out positiveness in any situation and accept the world as it is while the negative persons will look for negativeness in any situation or most of the situations.




The law of attraction says that positive attracts positive and negative attracts negative. So let us be positive and change our lives which is full of positiveness.
It does not mean that we will not be encountering negative situations, we certainly will but with a positive attitude  towards life we will be like shock absorbers and can easily handle without much difficulty. But it needs concerted effort and practice to come to this level, especially when one is a negative person.




I last went to my maternal grand father's village in the year 1966 when he breathed his last. Prior to it I along with my parents and  brothers would normally visit him once a year. It was located at about 2 KM from the railway station and the communication mode used to be bullock carts or bicycle in those days, always waiting for us at the station. I always preferred to walk and the experience is etched in my memory forever. The beautiful sight of flowers, the crops, the birds, the people out there..everything was fantastic. I wish today's generation would have undergone that wonderful experience.




To me the village symbolizes to be one  of purity and simplicity. Everything was pure and simple about it and I loved to be there. The house was built at a higher elevation to take care of any flood situation. It was similar to the one which my paternal forefathers had but of a smaller size. Then there was open space in front of the house where we all could play. Beyond this there was a flowing river, in fact it was hardly 10 metres away from the house. This was great fun for all the children including me. We used to take bath in the river and even swim or just cross it to the other side as the water level used to be normally knee deep. On the other side of the river we had a number of fruit bearing trees, mango in particular was so delicious. Nanaji will always depute somebody with us who would pluck the fruits and give it to us.




The food that was prepared by one of my aunts would taste so lovely basically because there was love and affection as the main ingredients. I debate with myself but am sure that the best food I ever had in my life was this one. Nothing can beat it. All of us would sit on the ground in a place which was earmarked for this purpose and the food would be served with great care and love. I am sure many of us would have undergone similar experience in their lives.
We build our world on and around relations but let it be full of positiveness or at least tending towards..... let us develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversities.

Maternal forefathers .......




When I sit down in my chair to start writing a new blog, the experience is one of bliss and delight but confined to me, just my thoughts and me. And then once completed, it reaches you. Some of you may like it and get connected with me at some level while some may not. Some may like to offer comments which I always welcome giving me a chance to make improvements. I go through your comments/suggestions  and start writing the next  one ; this is when the process gets completed.
I admit that it is because of you and your continuous support that I derive motivation to go on and share my life experiences ...


Human beings never cease to learn and I am no exception. I learnt the process of creating widgets and placed one such widget on my previous blog. I felt happy about it. However, it came as a surprise to me that it was visible only on desktop and PC but not on mobile phones. I took up the matter with concerned organisation and have just now received a message from them that their widgets do not support mobile version. Please accept my sincere apology for inconvenience. This is something which is beyond my control.

I have already shared about my paternal forefathers ....today I would like to talk about my maternal forefathers....


Home...Sweet Home.....


My maternal grandfather (nana) was simple but gem of a person. He came from a small village but a beautiful one. He was short in stature but maintained good health throughout. He never used specs which I used to marvel at. My maternal grandmother (nani) was an equally wonderful person. One could feel the deep bond and love between them. Both of them passed away long back....God bless their souls ! They were blessed with 02 daughters, my mother and her elder sister...perfect sisters, more like friends.....both of them passed away too .... God bless their souls !






My nana was working with the postal department  in the then British government and retired as Postmaster in the end. One memorable incident in his official capacity which my nani used to tell us with great pride and love was when he performed an act of bravery and loyalty.





There was heavy flood and the particular post office where he was working at that time was getting immersed rapidly in flood water and on the brink of total destruction. He sought urgent help from administration but it didn't arrive in time and understandably so because of prevailing situation. He realized that he would not be able to save the office but somehow or other wanted to save the cash box. He managed to pick it up and kept it on his head holding it with his both hands. However, the water level was constantly increasing and he being short in height was finding it difficult to manage for long. So he stood up on the office table holding the cash box on his head. By the time help arrived he was already neck deep in water but could be rescued just in time. This was acknowledged by the then British government and they awarded him handsomely.
